Sergei Zubov Autographs

Sergei Zubov was born on July 22, 1970 in Moscow, Russia. He began his hockey career playing for the CSKA Moscow team in the Soviet League. Zubov was known for his excellent skating ability and his offensive presence as a defenseman. He made his debut in the NHL with the New York Rangers during the 1992-1993 season where he quickly established himself as a key player on the team. During his time with the Rangers, Zubov helped the team win the Stanley Cup in 1994, and was named the second highest scoring defenseman in the league in the 1993-1994 and 1995-1996 seasons.
In 1996, Zubov was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins where he continued to establish himself as a dominant defenseman in the league. He was a key player in helping the Penguins reach the conference finals in 1996 and the Stanley Cup Finals in 1997. He was named to the NHL All-Star team in 1998 and 1999, and won a gold medal with the Russian national team in the 1992 Winter Olympics.
After four seasons with the Penguins, Zubov was traded to the Dallas Stars in 1999 where he would spend the remainder of his NHL career. He once again helped his team reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2000, where they fell short to the New Jersey Devils. Zubov was known for his production on the power play, and was a key player in helping the Stars win the Stanley Cup in 1999. In 2006, he became the highest scoring Russian-born defenseman in NHL history. He retired from the NHL in 2010, and is widely recognized as one of the greatest defensemen of his generation.
