Shawn Matthias Autographs
Shawn Matthias is a professional hockey player from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He was born on February 19th, 1988. He began his hockey career playing in the Ontario Hockey League for the Belleville Bulls, where he impressed scouts with his size and skill. In 2006, he was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round, 47th overall.
Matthias spent several years in the minor league system before finally breaking into the NHL with the Florida Panthers in the 2010-2011 season. Over the course of his NHL career, he played for the Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Winnipeg Jets. He was known for his physical play, strong work ethic, and versatility, often playing both center and wing positions for his teams. He became a valuable contributor on the penalty kill and was often used in defensive situations.
Throughout his career, Matthias had his share of injuries, including a concussion that kept him out of the game for nearly a year. Despite the setbacks, he continued to work hard, and in 2019, he signed a contract to join the Munich Red Bulls of the German League. He retired from professional hockey in 2020. In total, he played 623 games in the NHL, scoring 85 goals and 79 assists, along with 263 penalty minutes. Matthias's dedication to the sport and his team-oriented play was highly respected by both his fellow players and fans.
