His hockey career began in 1995 when he was selected by the Calgary Flames in the second round of the NHL Entry draft.
Begin played for various teams in his NHL career, including the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, and Boston Bruins. He made his NHL debut in the 1997-98 season for the Calgary Flames, and he was with them for six seasons. Begin is best known as a hardworking forward who could play with grit and determination. He was known as an excellent penalty killer and a physical presence on the ice.
Begin played in 524 career NHL games, scored 56 goals, and recorded 52 assists, and also accumulated 561 penalty minutes throughout his career.
