Steve Ott was born on August 19, 1982, in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He grew up playing hockey and even won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2001 World Junior Championships. Ott began his professional hockey career with the Dallas Stars, who drafted him 25th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He quickly established himself as a tough, physical player who wasn't afraid to mix it up on the ice. After leaving the Stars in 2012, Ott played for several other NHL teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings, and Montreal Canadiens. Although he only scored 109 goals and 288 points in his 848 NHL games, Ott was highly regarded for his grit and determination on the ice. He was known for being a versatile player who could play any position and was also regularly used on the penalty kill. Ott's playing style often put him in the penalty box, but he could also provide a spark for his team by getting into fights and standing up for his teammates.

In 2018, Ott retired from professional hockey and joined the coaching staff of the St. Louis Blues, where he worked as an assistant coach for two seasons. Ott's passion for hockey didn't end with his playing career, and he has since continued to be involved in the sport through coaching and mentoring young players.
