Teuvo Teräväinen is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who currently plays as a left winger for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on September 11, 1994, in Helsinki, Finland. Teräväinen started playing ice hockey at a young age, and at the age of 14, he joined the Jokerit youth program. He quickly established himself as one of the promising prospects in the team and helped them win the U18 and U20 championships.
Teräväinen made his professional debut in the Finnish Liiga for Jokerit in the 2011-12 season, where he recorded 11 points in 40 games. He continued to progress and was named the Best Player of the playoffs in the 2012-13 season, leading Jokerit to win the championship. In 2013, he was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round, 18th overall, in the NHL Draft. He joined the Blackhawks for the 2013-14 season, where he played 34 games but was mostly utilized as a depth player. However, in the playoffs, he emerged as a key player for the team, recording 10 points in 17 games and helping them win the Stanley Cup championship.
In 2016, Teräväinen was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, where he established himself as one of the top players on the team. In the 2018-19 season, he recorded his career-best season with 76 points in 82 games, leading the team in scoring. He also helped the Hurricanes reach the Eastern Conference Final. Teräväinen is known for his speed, skill, and playmaking ability, and he continues to be a vital asset to the Hurricanes' success.
