Thatcher Demko is an American ice hockey goaltender who plays in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Vancouver Canucks. Born in San Diego, California, in December 1995, Demko grew up in a family of athletes - his mother, father, and older sister all played sports. Since joining the Canucks, Demko has established himself as one of the most promising young goaltenders in the NHL. In the 2019-20 season, he appeared in 25 games and posted a 13-10-2 record with a 3.06 goals against average (GAA) and a .905 save percentage. He made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in the summer of 2020 when he replaced veteran goaltender Jacob Markstrom in the second round of the playoffs against the Vegas Golden Knights. In game five of that series, Demko made history by becoming just the third goaltender in NHL history to record back-to-back shutouts in his first two playoff appearances. Although the Canucks ultimately fell to the Golden Knights in seven games, Demko's performance in that series cemented his status as a rising star in the league.
