Tom Gilbert Autographs

Tom Gilbert is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player born in Bloomington, Minnesota, on January 10, 1983. He played as a defenceman in the National Hockey League (NHL) for over a decade, from 2006-07 to 2016-17, with five different teams. He played college hockey for the University of Wisconsin, and following his sophomore year, he was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
After finishing his NCAA career in 2006, Gilbert signed with the Oilers and spent the next three seasons with the team, entrenched as a top-four defenceman. He gathered a career-high 13 goals and 31 assists in his rookie year and finished runner-up in the Calder Trophy race as the NHL's top rookie. Gilbert went on to play for the Minnesota Wild, the Florida Panthers, the Los Angeles Kings, and the Washington Capitals until retiring in 2019, finishing his career with 655 games played, 45 goals, and 178 assists.
Throughout his time in the NHL, Tom Gilbert developed a reputation as a skilled and reliable defenceman, particularly in the defensive end of the ice. His ability to read the game and execute smooth breakout passes made him invaluable to his teams, as did his durability; he played in over 70 games in all but four seasons of his career. Although he was never considered a star player or even an NHL all-star, Gilbert's consistency and work ethic made him a favourite of coaches and teammates alike, and he enjoyed a long and successful career as a result.
