Tom Laidlaw Autograph

Tom Laidlaw is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenseman, who was born on April 15, 1958, in Brampton, Ontario. Laidlaw started his hockey career in the Ontario Hockey League, where he played for the Oshawa Generals from 1975- 1978. In his final year with the Generals, he was awarded the Max Kaminsky Trophy for the OHL's most outstanding defenseman. This accomplishment caught the attention of the New York Rangers who drafted him in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft, 68th overall. More about Tom Laidlaw

Laidlaw played for the Rangers from 1980-1987, where he became an integral part of their defense, playing alongside Ron Greschner, and became a fan favorite. In 1986, he was a key player in the Rangers' playoff run, where he contributed five assists in 16 games, and helped them reach the Eastern Conference Finals. Throughout his career, he also played for the Los Angeles Kings before he retired from professional hockey in 1990.

Apart from his prominent role in professional hockey, Tom Laidlaw is also well-known for his leadership skills as he served as the team captain for the New York Rangers in the 1984-1985 season. His leadership skills inspired his teammates to work together and led the Rangers to a series of victories. Laidlaw was known to be a solid two-way defenseman with the ability to move the puck and contribute on offense.
