Tomas Hertl is a professional ice hockey player who hails from the Czech Republic. He was born on November 12, 1993, in Praha, Czech Republic. Hertl started playing hockey at a very young age and turned pro in 2010 when he joined the team of his hometown, HC Slavia Praha. He played for the Czech Republic national team from 2012 to 2018, representing them in the IIHF World Championships.
In 2012, Hertl was drafted 17th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the NHL. In his debut season, he recorded 25 goals and 15 assists, becoming the first Czech-born player to earn the Rookie of the Month award in October 2013. Over the years, Hertl has become an integral part of the Sharks' team, and his versatility as a forward has been crucial to their success. Hertl's performance in the 2018-19 NHL season was one of his best so far, with 35 goals and 39 assists in 77 games. In September 2018, Hertl signed a four-year contract extension with the Sharks for $22.5 million.
Apart from his impressive NHL career, Hertl has also represented the Czech Republic in several international competitions. In 2013, he played for the Czech Republic team at the IIHF World Junior Championships and was the team's third-highest goal scorer. At the 2018 IIHF World Championships, Hertl registered 11 points in just 10 games, helping his country to a fourth-place finish. Hertl is one of the most exciting young players in the NHL today and is expected to continue his successful career for many years to come.
