Tomas Sandstrom Autographs
Tomas Sandstrom is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who enjoyed a successful career spanning over 17 years. He was born in 1964 in Jakobsberg, Sweden, and started playing hockey at a young age. Sandstrom began his professional career with Djurgardens IF in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1980, where he impressed with his skill and scoring abilities.
In 1984, Sandstrom was drafted by the New York Rangers in the second round of the NHL draft, and he quickly established himself as one of the most skilled forwards in the league. Sandstrom played for the Rangers for six seasons, where he tallied 182 points, including 87 goals, in 312 games. In 1990, Sandstrom was traded to the Los Angeles Kings, where he would spend the next six and a half seasons. It was with the Kings that he had his most productive years, scoring 160 goals and 334 points in 456 games. Sandstrom was also a key player in helping the Kings reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1993, although they ultimately lost to the Montreal Canadiens.
Sandstrom ended his career playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, and Anaheim Ducks, where he continued to play at a high level despite his age. In total, Sandstrom tallied 394 goals and 712 points in 983 NHL games. He was also a frequent member of the Swedish national team, where he won three gold and three silver medals in international tournaments. Sandstrom is remembered as a skilled and physical player, with a tremendous work ethic and an ability to score important goals in clutch situations.
