Tommy Albelin Autographs
Tommy Albelin is a retired Swedish ice hockey defenseman who played professionally for 18 seasons. He was born on May 21, 1964 in Kiruna, Sweden. Albelin began his professional career in 1981 with Luleå HF in the Swedish Elite League. In 1983, he was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques as the 156th overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft. After spending four seasons in Quebec, he was traded to the New Jersey Devils in 1988, where he played for nine seasons.
During his time with the Devils, Albelin won three Stanley Cup championships in 1995, 2000 and 2003. He is known for his strong defensive play and his ability to play in a variety of situations. Albelin was also known for his versatility, as he was able to play both as a defenseman and a forward, although he was primarily a defenseman. He was an important part of the Devils' success during the late 90s and early 2000s.
Albelin retired from professional hockey after the 2006-2007 season. After his playing career, he transitioned into coaching, and worked as an assistant coach for several teams including the New Jersey Devils, the Colorado Avalanche and the Calgary Flames. He was also a member of the Swedish national team, representing his home country in various international competitions. Albelin retired with a total of 949 games played, 29 goals and 152 assists, and is remembered as one of the most influential Swedish players in NHL history.
