Tony Granato Autographs
Tony Granato is a former American professional ice hockey player who enjoyed a successful career in the sport both nationally and internationally. Granato was born on July 25, 1964, in Downers Grove, Illinois, and began playing youth hockey in his hometown. He would later attend the University of Wisconsin, where he played college hockey for the Badgers and helped the team win the National Championship in 1983.
Granato was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft, and he made his professional debut for the team in the 1988 season. He played as a right winger and spent five seasons with the Rangers before moving to the Los Angeles Kings in 1990. Granato played for the Kings for seven seasons, and during this period, he had a career-best season in 1992-93, scoring 82 points in 80 games. He played his final NHL season with the San Jose Sharks in 2001, finishing his NHL career with 248 goals and 244 assists in 774 games.
Granato also represented the United States in international competitions, playing for the country in three Winter Olympics and three World Championships. He was also part of the famed "Miracle on Ice" team that won the gold medal at the 1980 Olympics. Granato retired as a player in 2002 and then transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach for the Colorado Avalanche, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Detroit Red Wings before being named the head coach of the University of Wisconsin Badgers in 2016.
