Travis Hamonic is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who was born on August 16, 1990, in St. Malo, Manitoba, Canada. Hamonic started playing hockey in his childhood, and by the time he was 16 years old, he had become one of the most promising young hockey players in his community. He was drafted in the second round by the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in 2005 and started his junior career in the same year. Hamonic played four seasons for the Moose Jaw Warriors, where he became a team captain and was regarded as one of the team's top players. In 2008, Hamonic was drafted by the New York Islanders in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft. He made his professional debut for the Islanders in the 2010-2011 season and quickly established himself as one of the team's top defensemen. Hamonic was known for his physical playing style, his ability to move the puck efficiently, and his strong defensive skills. During his tenure with the Islanders, he played in 444 regular season games and scored 26 goals while recording 110 assists.
