Tyler Wright Autographs
Tyler Wright is a former professional ice hockey player from Canada. Born on April 6th, 1973, in Canora, Saskatchewan, he played for multiple teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1991 to 2006. Wright started his hockey career in his hometown, playing for the Canora Cobras before being selected in the first round by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut for the Oilers the next year and went on to play for teams such as the Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Anaheim Ducks. Wright played his last NHL game on April 8th, 2006, for the Blue Jackets.
Throughout his career, Tyler Wright established himself primarily as a dependable forward, known for his reliable two-way game, physicality, and strong work ethic. During the 1995 playoffs, representing the Penguins, he tied for the NHL record for most shorthanded goals in a single postseason with three. Across his 613 NHL games, Wright scored 63 goals and recorded 87 assists, as well as 710 penalty minutes. Upon his retirement, he briefly worked as a pro scout for the Blue Jackets, and in 2013, he was named the team’s assistant director of player development.
Tyler Wright’s dedication to the game of hockey doesn’t stop at retirement, though. He is invested in developing young talent and has been actively involved in coaching and development since retiring. Wright served as an amateur scout for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2008 before moving on to serving as the director of amateur scouting with the Detroit Red Wings in 2013. Wright was with the Red Wings until 2019 when he rejoined his former team, the Edmonton Oilers, as their director of amateur scouting, where he is responsible for overseeing the recruitment and scouting of players who will enter the NHL draft. Tyler Wright’s extensive history in hockey and wealth of experience make him a valuable asset to any team.
