Vaclav Varada was born on April 25, 1976, in the Czech Republic. Varada began his professional hockey career in the Czech Republic with Poldi Kladno before making his North American debut with the Rochester Americans during the 1993-94 season. In 1994, the right winger was selected 68th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the NHL Entry Draft. However, he was traded to the Buffalo Sabres before playing a single game with the Sharks. After his time with the Sabres, Varada went on to play for the Ottawa Senators, the Nashville Predators, and the New York Rangers before finishing his NHL career with the Ottawa Senators in 2006-07. His physicality and willingness to do whatever it took to win made him a beloved player by fans and teammates alike.
