Wally Hergesheimer Autographs
Wally Hergesheimer was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who was born on November 6, 1921, in Regina, Saskatchewan. He played right-wing for the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Black Hawks, and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1941 to 1950. Hergesheimer played in over 200 NHL games and scored 50 goals and 84 assists for a total of 134 points.
Hergesheimer started his hockey career in the Western Canada Junior Hockey League before joining the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL. He played for the Canadiens from 1941 to 1944 and helped the team win two Stanley Cups in 1944 and 1946. In 1943-44 season, he set a career-high for points with 29 in 46 games. Hergesheimer was then traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1947 where he played for two seasons. He joined the Boston Bruins in 1949 but was forced to retire in 1950 because of an injury.
After his retirement, Hergesheimer became a coach and managed several minor league hockey teams. In 1952, he coached the Barrie Flyers to a championship win in the Ontario Hockey Association. He continued to coach and mentor young players for many years before he passed away in 2004. Hergesheimer was a formidable force on the ice and his contribution to hockey will always be remembered.
