He played for various National Hockey League (NHL) teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, and St. Louis Blues during a career that spanned from 1972 to 1984. Lambert was an integral part of the Montreal Canadiens team that won four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1976 to 1979.
Lambert began his professional career with the Montreal Canadiens farm team, Nova Scotia Voyageurs, in 1972. In his rookie year with Montreal, he scored 37 points in 75 games, which was an impressive start to his NHL career. He was also part of the Montreal team that won four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1976 to 1979. This achievement made Lambert a pivotal player on the Canadiens team, and his scoring ability earned him a reputation as one of the best left-wingers of his time.
After leaving the Canadiens, Lambert played for the Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues before retiring from professional hockey in 1984.
