Al Dark was an American baseball player and manager, born on January 7, 1922, in Comanche, Oklahoma. He started his baseball career as a shortstop in 1946 with the Boston Braves. In his rookie season, Dark batted .322 and helped the Braves win the National League pennant. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1948 by Sporting News. Dark played for other teams during his twelve-year career, including the New York Giants, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Philadelphia Phillies. More about Al Dark
