Chevy Chase Autographs
Chevy Chase is an American comedian, actor, and writer who was born on October 8, 1943, in New York City. Chase started his career as a writer for the National Lampoon magazine, where he gained prominence for his satirical articles. From there, he moved to television, where he was a part of the original cast of the famous sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live, in 1975. His career in movies began in the late 1970s, starring in several hit comedies, such as National Lampoon's Animal House and Caddyshack.
Chase's career in movies reached its peak in the early 1980s with successful films such as Vacation, Fletch, and Three Amigos. In Vacation, he played the character of Clark Griswold, a bumbling yet lovable husband and father who encounters a series of misadventures on a family road trip. Fletch saw him playing the role of a witty investigative journalist who goes undercover to solve a mystery. In Three Amigos, Chase starred alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short as one of the titular amigos, an inept cowboy who is hired to protect a Mexican village from bandits.
During this decade, Chevy Chase became one of the biggest comedic actors in Hollywood, known for his impeccable timing, deadpan delivery, and physical comedy. However, as the 1990s rolled in, Chase's star began to wane when he became embroiled in controversies surrounding his behavior on set and his treatment of co-stars. In recent years, he has taken up supporting roles in movies such as Hot Tub Time Machine and has made cameo appearances in TV shows like Community. His lasting impact on comedy, however, is undeniable, and his early work continues to be celebrated by fans to this day.
