Peter Mayhew was a British actor, best known for portraying the beloved Wookiee character, Chewbacca, in the Star Wars film franchise. Born on May 19, 1944, in Barnes, London, he had a remarkable height of 7'3" which made him one of the tallest actors in the world. Growing up, Mayhew had always dreamed of being a part of the entertainment industry, but his towering figure put him in a unique position to play larger-than-life characters. Aside from his success in acting, Mayhew was also an author, philanthropist, and advocate for social causes. He wrote two books about his experience portraying Chewbacca and worked closely with organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Wounded Warriors to support charity causes. Sadly, He passed away on April 30, 2019, due to a heart attack at 74 years old, but his contributions to the film industry and his charitable work continue to inspire new generations of actors and fans.
