Wilson formed Sublime with Bradley Nowell and Bud Gaugh, and they released their debut album, "40oz. to Freedom" in 1992, which became an instant hit. The band's unique blend of punk rock, ska, reggae, and hip-hop, with Wilson's bass grooves, played a significant role in the popularity of Sublime's music.
