George Harvey Strait was born in Poteet, Texas, on May 18, 1952. George's love for music began at an early age as he grew up listening to country music stars such as Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, and Bob Wills on the radio. As a teenager, Strait began performing with a garage band, and after graduating from high school, he enrolled at Texas State University.
