Dansby Swanson was born on February 11, 1994, in Kennesaw, Georgia. Growing up, Swanson excelled in multiple sports, including basketball and football, but it was baseball that ultimately captured his heart. After graduating from Marietta High School, Swanson attended Vanderbilt University, where he played college baseball for three years. In 2015, Swanson was selected first overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the MLB draft. He quickly became one of the top prospects in baseball, with a combination of elite defensive skills and above-average hitting ability. Just a year later, Swanson was traded to the Atlanta Braves as part of a package for star pitcher Shelby Miller. Swanson became the Braves' starting shortstop in 2017 and has held that position ever since.
