Derek Jeter is a former Major League Baseball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest shortstops of all time. He was born in New York City on June 26, 1974 and began playing baseball at a young age. Jeter was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1992 and made his major league debut in 1995.
