Ed Orgeron Autograph

Ed Orgeron is a former American football player who is currently the head coach of the Louisiana State University (LSU) Tigers. Born on July 27, 1961, in Larose, Louisiana, Orgeron played high school football at South Lafourche High School and later played collegiately for Louisiana State University from 1979 to 1983. He was a defensive tackle and part of the Tigers' 1981 SEC Championship team. After his college career, he joined the coaching staff at Northwestern State University in Louisiana as a graduate assistant and then moved on to several other coaching positions across the country. Orgeron's coaching career began in 1984 at Nicholls State University as the defensive line coach. He later held coaching positions at McNeese State University, USC, and the University of Miami before becoming the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels in 2005. After three years at Ole Miss, he served as an assistant to the head coach at the University of Tennessee before joining the LSU Tigers as a defensive line coach in 2015. In 2016, he became the interim head coach after the firing of Les Miles, and he was eventually named the permanent head coach in November of that year.

Under Coach Orgeron's leadership, the LSU Tigers have had tremendous success on the football field. In 2019, he led the team to a national championship, their first since 2007. He was named the 2019 Home Depot Coach of the Year and has been recognized as one of the best coaches in college football. Orgeron's passion, energy, and coaching expertise have made him a beloved figure in the world of American football, and his influence on the LSU Tigers and the sport as a whole is indelible.
