George Trafton Autographs
George Trafton was an American football center who was born on December 6, 1896, in Chicago, Illinois. At the age of 20, he began playing professional football for the Decatur Staleys, which later became the Chicago Bears. He was one of the best centers of his time, known for his toughness, intelligence, and leadership.
During his 14-year career, Trafton won six NFL championships, five with the Chicago Bears, and one with the Chicago Cardinals. He was a tenacious competitor who played in an era when the game was much more brutal than it is today. Despite that, he played in 118 straight games without missing one, a testament to his durability and toughness. He had the ability to read defenses, make adjustments, and ensure that the quarterback received the ball on every play, making him a valuable asset to any team he played for.
After his football career, Trafton worked as a coach, starting with the Bears, where he worked for six years. He then went on to coach for the Cardinals, the Washington Redskins, and the University of San Francisco. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1964, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the game of football. George Trafton was a pioneer of his time, setting the standard for future generations of centers with his work ethic, leadership, and toughness.
