Granit Xhaka is a Swiss professional soccer player who currently plays for Arsenal Football Club and the Switzerland national team as a midfielder. He was born on September 27, 1992, in Basel, Switzerland, to Albanian parents. His father, Ragip Xhaka, was also a former soccer player who played for FC Basel and the Switzerland national team.
Xhaka began his soccer career by joining local club Concordia Basel at the age of six. In 2002, he moved to FC Basel's youth academy, where he developed his skills and made his professional debut for the club at the age of 18. He quickly established himself as one of the most promising young players in Switzerland and helped his team win the Swiss Super League four times before making a move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2012. During his time in Germany, he developed his reputation as an excellent passer and a hardworking midfielder with exceptional ball control and vision.
In 2016, Arsenal Football Club signed Xhaka in a deal worth £34 million, making him the most expensive Swiss footballer of all time. He has since become a key player for the London-based club, making over 200 appearances, winning two FA Cups, and helping the club reach the final of the Europa League. Xhaka has also made over 80 appearances for the Switzerland national team, playing in the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups, and was appointed as the team's captain in 2020. His soccer career has been defined by his incredible work ethic, technical skills, and leadership qualities, making him one of the best midfielders in the game today.
