Jim Calhoun Autographs

Jim Calhoun is a widely-respected former collegiate basketball coach with a decorated career. He was born on May 10th, 1942, in Braintree, Massachusetts. Calhoun grew up in a family of ten children, and he developed a passion for basketball from a very young age. In high school, Calhoun was a standout player and went on to play college basketball at American International College. After graduating college, Calhoun began his coaching career, starting at Old Lyme High School in Connecticut. He then moved on to coach at Westport High School, where he led the team to a state championship.
In 1986, Jim Calhoun became the head coach of the University of Connecticut men's basketball team. He quickly transformed the program into an elite program, leading the Huskies to three national championships in 1999, 2004, and 2011. In his 26 years at UConn, Calhoun amassed 625 wins, making him the winningest coach in UConn history. Calhoun was known for his tough coaching style and demanding practices, but his players respected him greatly, and many went on to successful NBA careers, including Ray Allen, Emeka Okafor, and Richard Hamilton.
Calhoun was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005, and he also received numerous awards throughout his career, including being named the National Coach of the Year three times. After retiring from coaching in 2012, he became a special assistant to the UConn athletic director, helping to fundraise for the basketball program and mentoring young coaches. Calhoun's impact on UConn basketball and the sport of basketball as a whole is undeniable, and his legacy will continue to inspire players and coaches alike for years to come.
