Ned Jarrett Autographs

Ned JarrettNed Jarrett was born on October 12, 1932, in Newton, North Carolina. He started his racing career at the Hickory Motor Speedway, which was just a few miles from his home. In 1952, Jarrett made his big-league debut at the Daytona Beach Road Course and soon became a prominent figure in the sport. Known for his exceptional driving skills and sportsmanship, Ned Jarrett won numerous races, including two Grand National championships in 1961 and 1965. He retired from professional racing in 1966, but his impact on the sport of NASCAR is evident to this day.
Jarrett's racing career was full of achievements and memorable moments. In 1965, he became the first driver in NASCAR history to win over $200,000 in a single season, while also claiming a Grand National championship victory. Jarrett also had one of the most dominant seasons in NASCAR history in 1964, winning 15 races and finishing second in 14 more. Known for his smooth driving style and ability to conserve tires, Jarrett was dubbed "Gentleman Ned" by his peers, and his success on the track earned him a spot in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1991.
Ned Jarrett's influence on NASCAR extends beyond his impressive career as a driver. After retiring from racing, Jarrett became a successful businessman, owning and operating several car dealerships and radio stations. He also remained active in motorsports as a broadcaster, working as a commentator for CBS and later ABC. Through his work as a commentator and ambassador for NASCAR, Jarrett helped to grow the sport beyond its Southeastern roots and into a national phenomenon. His contributions and legacy continue to inspire a new generation of NASCAR drivers and fans.
