Ricky Rudd is a retired American Race car driver who is best known for his 33 season career in the NASCAR racing series. Born on September 12, 1956, in Norfolk, Virginia, Rudd started racing as a kid in go-kart competitions. Rudd began his professional racing career in 1975 and made his debut in the NASCAR Cup Series the following year. In his rookie year, he finished 53rd overall but would go on to win 23 Cup races during his illustrious career. He drove for a number of top teams, including Hendrick Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing, and Robert Yates Racing.
