Wallace's racing career in NASCAR began in 1980 when he competed in the Busch Series, now known as the Xfinity Series. He raced for nearly three decades, achieving 13 top-five finishes and 63 top-ten finishes in the Busch Series, and recorded two poles in the series. Wallace's best season in the Busch Series was in 1991 when he finished in seventh place, with 11 top-ten finishes.

In addition to his success in the Busch Series, Wallace also made appearances in the NASCAR Cup Series. He competed in 61 Cup Series races between 1990-2005, recording two top-ten finishes. Wallace retired from racing in 2005 but his impact on the motorsports world remains undeniable. His dedication and passion for racing made him a fan favorite and he will always be remembered as a talented driver who made a significant contribution to the sport.
