Zane Smith Autographs
Zane Smith is a former American professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball for more than a decade, pitching for six different teams. He was born on December 28, 1960, in Madison, Wisconsin, and grew up in the Milwaukee suburb of Brookfield. Smith attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he played college baseball for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Smith was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 1982 MLB Draft, and he made his major league debut with the team in 1984. Smith spent most of his career with the Braves, pitching for the team from 1984 to 1989. He had his best season in 1991 when he pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates, earning a 16-10 record with a 3.32 ERA and finishing fourth in the National League Cy Young Award voting. He retired in 1997 with a career record of 100-115, a 3.74 ERA, and 1,321 strikeouts in 1,992 innings pitched.
Over the course of his career, Smith was known for his strong fastball and control on the mound, as well as his durability and consistency. He was also recognized for his ability to pitch effectively in both starting and relief roles, and he was a key contributor to several successful teams throughout his career. Today, Smith remains active in the baseball community as a coach and instructor, working to share his knowledge and experience with young players.
