Charlie George Autographs
Charlie George is a former English professional soccer player born on December 10, 1950, in Islington, London. George began his footballing career at a young age, joining Arsenal’s youth team at 13 and made his senior debut eight years later in November 1969. He was a dynamic player, known for his ability to strike the ball cleanly with both feet and his skillful dribbling abilities. He played for Arsenal for nine seasons, making over 179 appearances and scoring 49 goals in all competitions.
One of George's most memorable moments came in the 1971 FA Cup final against Liverpool when he scored the winning goal. He received a long ball and struck it powerfully past Ray Clemence in Liverpool's goal, before collapsing onto the ground in relief and joy. The goal was a testament to his superb technical ability and strong mental toughness. George won four major trophies with Arsenal, including the 1970 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the 1971 League championship.
After a brief stint with Derby County, George retired from professional football in 1981. He later became a football pundit and worked as a DJ in London clubs. Charlie George will always be remembered as one of the most talented players to have played for Arsenal. He was inducted into the club's hall of fame in 2008, and his iconic 1971 FA Cup-winning goal remains one of the most memorable moments in English football history.
