He scored 72 goals in 170 matches and helped the team win the Copa del Rey in 1999 and the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1998 and 1999. Throughout his career, López was known for his speed, skill, and goal-scoring ability. He earned 56 caps for the Argentina national team, scoring 10 goals and appearing in both the 1998 and 2002 World Cups.
