David Platt Autographs
David Platt was born on June 10, 1966, and is a retired English footballer who enjoyed great success both in the club and international levels. His career began in 1985 with Crewe Alexandra, where he played for three years before being sold to Aston Villa for a then club record fee of £200,000. In his first season with Villa, he scored 17 goals in 41 appearances and was named the PFA Young Player of the Year. Platt's goalscoring exploits continued in the following season, as he scored another 19 goals in all competitions, helping Villa to win the League Cup in 1994.
After leaving Aston Villa, Platt joined Italian giants Juventus, where he spent two seasons before moving to Sampdoria. In 1994, he returned to England, this time to play for Arsenal, where he won the Premier League title in his first season at the club. Platt was a key player for the Gunners throughout his three years at the club, helping them to win the FA Cup in 1998. He then had a brief stint with Nottingham Forest, where he ended his playing career in 1998.
Platt was also a regular for the England national team, earning 62 caps and scoring 27 goals. His most memorable moment in an England shirt came during the 1990 World Cup when he scored a stunning last-minute winner against Belgium in the second round. Platt's contribution to English football was immense, and he is widely regarded as one of the finest midfielders of his generation. After retirement, he has gone on to become a successful football coach, managing teams such as Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, and Indian Super League side, Pune City.
