Didier Drogba is a retired Ivorian professional footballer who was known for his powerful and skillful play as a forward. He was born on March 11, 1978, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Drogba began his football career at the age of five and played for the Abbeville Academy before moving to France to play for Levallois.
Drogba became an international sensation when he signed for Chelsea in 2004 for a whopping £24 million. During his eight years at the club, Drogba became an integral part of the squad and helped them win several major titles, including four Premier League titles, four FA Cup trophies, and a Champions League title. He became Chelsea's fourth-highest goal scorer of all time, with 164 goals in 381 appearances for the club.
Drogba was also a prolific scorer for the Ivory Coast national team, scoring a record of 65 goals in 104 appearances. He led the Ivorian team to their first-ever World Cup appearance in 2006 and four African Cup of Nations tournaments. Drogba won numerous awards and accolades during his career, including the African Footballer of the Year award twice, and was nicknamed "The King" by Chelsea fans. He retired from professional football in 2018, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest footballers of his generation.
