Gianluigi Buffon is one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in the history of soccer. He was born on January 28, 1978, in Carrara, Italy. Buffon started playing soccer at an early age and became passionate about the sport. He joined the Parma youth academy at the age of 13 and made his professional debut for the Parma first team in 1995.
Buffon spent six years at Parma before joining Juventus in 2001 for a record transfer fee for a goalkeeper at that time. He quickly established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, helping Juventus win numerous titles, including nine Serie A titles, four Coppa Italia titles, and one Champions League title. Buffon is also the record holder for the most clean sheets in Serie A history, with 301 shutouts. He has been named Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year numerous times and was named UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year three times. Buffon has also represented the Italian national team, making over 170 appearances and winning the 2006 World Cup.
In 2018, Buffon returned to Parma for an emotional homecoming, where he played for one season before joining French club Paris Saint-Germain. Buffon continues to play at the highest level of soccer and has become an inspiration to young goalkeepers around the world. His dedication to the sport, his leadership, and his exceptional performances have solidified his legacy as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.
