He is known for his prolific goal-scoring ability and his clinical finishing in front of the goal. Higuaín made his professional debut for River Plate in May 2005 and scored his first goal in August of the same year. He quickly gained the attention of top European clubs and was signed by Real Madrid in January 2007 for a reported fee of €12 million.
