Jason Kreis Autograph
Jason Kreis was born on December 29, 1972, in Omaha, Nebraska, and was raised in the nearby city of Mandan, North Dakota. Kreis began his soccer career playing for Duke University. Following his collegiate years, Kreis was drafted by the Dallas Burn and quickly became one of the league's most prolific scorers. In 1988 Kreis moved to Real Salt Lake as a player-coach, a role he occupied for two years. Kreis has been one of the most successful coaches in MLS history, with a coaching record that includes a 113-87-69 record, including playoffs. Kreis has won two Supporters’ Shields and two MLS Cups: one with Real Salt Lake in 2009 and one with New York City FC in 2015. His emphasis on high-pressure attacking soccer resulted in some of the league's most dynamic attacking teams, and under his tutelage, numerous players made it to the US Men's National Team. Kreis also played for the US national team, earning five caps.
Kreis's passion for soccer extends beyond the field. He has been a vocal advocate for improving MLS's youth development system, both as a coach and through his involvement with US Soccer. Kreis also started a charity, The Jason Kreis Foundation, which supports children with pediatric cancer.
