Ledley King Autographs
Ledley King was born on October 12, 1980, in Bow, London. He developed an interest in football from a young age and joined the London-based club Tottenham Hotspur's youth academy. King's outstanding performance on the field soon caught the eye of the managers, and he was offered a professional contract with the club in 1998. He made his first-team debut in 1999 and quickly established himself as one of the best and most consistent defenders in the league.
King spent his entire playing career at Tottenham, playing over 300 games for the club from 1999 to his retirement in 2012. He captained the side for many years and was instrumental in their run to the League Cup final in 2009. King was also a regular member of the England national team, earning 21 caps between 2002 and 2010, despite being plagued by injuries throughout his career. Despite King's injuries, he was still widely regarded as one of the best defenders of his era, showcasing an array of impressive defending skills and techniques on the pitch that earned him plaudits from his peers and critics alike.
Post-retirement, King stayed involved in football as a coach, serving as a club ambassador, academy coach, and assistant coach for Tottenham. In May 2021, King was appointed as an assistant coach for the England national team, where he will use his vast experience and knowledge of the game to help nurture the next generation of English footballers. King's career in football may have been short due to injuries, but his reputation as a reliable and inspirational leader on and off the field, makes him an icon in Tottenham's history.
