Matt Busby Autographs
Matt Busby was a Scottish footballer and manager, born on May 26, 1909, in Orbiston, Bellshill, Scotland. He played for Manchester City, Liverpool, and Scotland during his career as a player. As a soccer player, Busby made his debut for Manchester City in 1928 and was an influential centre-half for the team during the 1930s, before he transferred to Liverpool in 1936. He finished off his career as a player at his first club, Manchester City, where he became the team captain.
Following his playing career, Busby started a career as a football coach and manager. He took over as manager of Manchester United in 1945, where he made football history as he rebuilt the team into what would become the most famous club in English football history. His teams won five English league titles, two FA Cups, and the European Cup in 1968, with one of the best soccer teams ever assembled. Although the team was hit by the Munich air disaster in 1958, Busby became inseparable with Manchester United and continued to develop new young talent in the coming decades until he retired in 1971.
Busby was one of the most distinguished footballers of his time and his legacy as Manchester United's most successful manager and also the architect of one of the most successful football teams ever assembled is still unmatched. Busby was a manager who believed in attacking football played with flair and created an identity that has become his legacy. He was a father figure to many of his players and gave them the confidence to play their best through his personal guidance and philosophy. Busby played for the love of the game and contributed significantly to the history of English football. His passion and commitment to football inspired many and left a mark on the sport that has continued to this day.
