Rui Costa Autographs
Rui Costa is a retired Portuguese soccer legend known for his contributions to the sport both on and off the field. Born on March 29, 1972, in Lisbon, Portugal, Costa began his professional soccer career with Benfica in 1991, where he played as a midfielder. He played for Benfica for five years before moving to Italian club Fiorentina, where he gained more exposure and success. He also played for AC Milan and Benfica before retiring from soccer in 2008.
Throughout his career, Costa was renowned for his technical skills and creative play, which earned him several personal awards, including the Portuguese Player of the Year twice, in 1998 and 2000. He also helped his teams win numerous titles, including the UEFA Cup, Coppa Italia, UEFA Super Cup, and the Primeira Liga. He was a key player for the Portugal national team, helping them reach the UEFA Euro 2004 final, where they lost to Greece.
After retiring from soccer, Costa continued to contribute to the sport by pursuing a career as a sports executive. He served as the director of international football at Benfica from 2008 to 2011 before assuming the role of director of football at AC Milan in 2012. In 2019, he was appointed as the sporting director of his former club Benfica, where he continues to help shape the team's future. Costa's technical knowledge and experience in soccer have made him one of the most respected sports executives in the game today.
