Tony Galvin Autographs
Tony Galvin is a retired Irish professional footballer who played primarily as a left winger. Born on April 21, 1956, in South County Dublin, Ireland. Galvin began his career at non-league side Goole Town before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in 1978.
During his time at Sheffield Wednesday, Galvin impressed many with his pace and skill on the ball. It wasn't long until he was picked up by Tottenham Hotspur in 1980. He spent a total of eight years at Spurs where he became a fan-favorite and playing an instrumental role in the club's successes of the early 1980s. He won two FA Cup titles, the UEFA Cup, and the Charity Shield during his time at Spurs.
Galvin had a successful international career, representing the Republic of Ireland national team on 34 occasions from 1980 to 1987. He played a key role in Ireland's memorable 1-0 victory over England in Euro 88, where his industry and pace caused England's defense a significant headache throughout the match. In 1983, Galvin was named Ireland's Footballer of the Year, capping off an illustrious career in the sport. After retiring, Galvin returned to his hometown in Ireland and worked as a youth coach at Drogheda United.
