Anna Fisher Autographs
Anna Fisher is an American astronaut who was born on August 24th, 1949, in New York. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, followed by a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of California Medical School. She then pursued a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of California and completed her training in 1976. Before her selection by NASA, Fisher worked as a Research Associate in Emergency Medicine at the same university.
Anna Fisher was selected as an astronaut in 1978 and became the first mother to go to space when she went on a mission in 1984. She has logged over 192 hours in space and was a member of the eight-member Astronaut Class of 1978, which was the first selection of astronauts in nine years. During her career, she served in various capacities at NASA, including as a member of the Medical Sciences Division and as an astronaut in the Space Shuttle program. Fisher was part of the crew of the Discovery Space Shuttle and was the first woman to work on the Challenger Space Shuttle in 1986.
Anna Fisher has received numerous awards for her achievements, including the NASA Space Flight Medal and the Defense Superior Service Medal. In 2015, she was inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame. She has also worked as a consultant for space projects and has been active in promoting women’s involvement in space exploration. Her contributions to the space program have made her a role model for aspiring astronauts and a respected member of the scientific community.
