Frank Borman Autographs

Frank Borman was an American astronaut and military pilot who played an instrumental role in NASA's early space missions. Born on March 14, 1928, in Gary, Indiana, Borman enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and served as a fighter pilot during the Korean War. After the war, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from the California Institute of Technology. In 1962, Borman was selected as one of the nine astronauts for NASA's Gemini program.
Borman's greatest achievement came in December 1968, when he commanded the historic Apollo 8 mission, which was the first manned spacecraft to orbit the moon. Along with fellow astronauts Jim Lovell and Bill Anders, Borman spent six days in space and conducted a number of experiments and observations of the lunar surface. The mission was a major milestone for NASA and marked the first time in human history that humans had traveled to another celestial body. Borman's leadership during the mission was widely praised, and he was awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor in 1969.
After retiring from NASA in 1970, Borman went on to serve as the chief executive officer of Eastern Air Lines and later founded a consulting firm that specialized in aviation and space technology. He also served on the boards of numerous corporations and organizations, including the National Geographic Society and the American Automobile Association. Today, Borman is remembered as one of the pioneers of human spaceflight and a true hero of the space age. His legacy serves as an inspiration to the next generation of astronauts and space pioneers who will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in space exploration.
