Janice Voss Autographs

Janice Voss was an accomplished astronaut with a long and distinguished career at NASA. She was born on October 8, 1956, in South Bend, Indiana. Voss had a passion for astronomy and space exploration from an early age, and pursued her dream by studying engineering at Purdue University. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, she went on to earn a doctorate in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Voss was selected as an astronaut by NASA in 1990 and went on to log over 49 days in space across five missions. Her first mission, STS-57, took place in June 1993 aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor. During this flight, Voss helped to launch and retrieve research satellites and conducted numerous experiments in microgravity. She went on to participate in four more missions, including STS-63, which was the first shuttle flight to dock with the Russian Space Station Mir. Voss was also involved in the design and testing of new spacecraft and was a member of the Astronaut Office Mission Support Branch, responsible for providing support to other astronauts during their missions.
In addition to her work at NASA, Voss was an advocate for education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). She traveled the country speaking to students and encouraging them to pursue careers in these fields. Voss passed away in 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer, but her legacy lives on as an inspiration to future generations of explorers and scientists.
