Lee Morin Autographs
Lee Morin is an American astronaut and retired Navy Captain who has spent an impressive amount of time in space. He was born on July 9, 1952, in Manchester, Connecticut, and grew up in Bedford, Massachusetts. Morin’s interest in aviation and space began during childhood, when he would watch the Apollo space missions on television.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 1973, Morin joined the United States Navy. He went on to earn a master’s degree in laser physics from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, before being selected for NASA’s astronaut program in 1996. Morin completed astronaut training in 1998 and was assigned to several space shuttle missions, including STS-110 in 2002 and STS-122 in 2008. He has logged over 259 days in space and 10 spacewalks, setting a record for the longest time spent in orbit by any astronaut with a background in medicine.
Morin’s time as an astronaut has been marked by his contributions to research into the effects of microgravity on the human body, as well as his work on the International Space Station’s robotic arm. He is also a talented musician, having recorded a song in space in 2020 using a custom-made guitar. Today, Morin serves as the associate director for medical and technical operations at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, where he continues to make important contributions to space research and exploration.
