Dean Butler is an American actor, producer, and writer, born on May 20, 1956, in Prince George's County, Maryland. Butler started his acting career in television in the early 1980s, with a recurring role in the NBC drama series "Little House on the Prairie," playing the character of Almanzo Wilder, the love interest of main character Laura Ingalls. Butler gained popularity in the show and continued to play the role until it ended in 1983. After the end of "Little House on the Prairie," Butler participated in numerous television movies and series, including "The Love Boat," "Murder, She Wrote," and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." He also served as an executive producer of the TV series "The New Adventures of Peter and Wendy," which was loosely based on J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan." Butler also expanded his career as a writer, and in 2010 published the book "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated," which was based on his experiences working on "Little House on the Prairie."

Butler's work in television has earned him critical acclaim among critics and fans. In 2003, he was awarded the Silver Spur Award by the Reel Cowboys Hall of Fame for his contributions to Western television productions.
