Harry Anderson Autographs
Harry Anderson is a former Major League Baseball outfielder who played for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1957 to 1959. Anderson was born on June 21st, 1931, in North East, Maryland, and attended Rising Sun High School. He was discovered by Phillies scout, Chief Bender, in 1950 and was signed as an amateur free agent.
Anderson made his major league debut for the Phillies on April 16th, 1957, in a game against the Cincinnati Reds. In his rookie season, Anderson played 124 games, hit five home runs and drove in 49 runs, and ended the season with a batting average of .241. He continued to play for the Phillies for the next two seasons, but his numbers declined, and he was eventually traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1960.
Anderson played a total of eight seasons in the major leagues, amassing 584 games played, 32 home runs, and 190 runs batted in. He retired from baseball in 1962, after spending his final season with the New York Mets. In retrospect, Anderson’s best season was his rookie year with the Phillies, where he showed promise as a solid outfielder with a respectable bat. Despite his short career, Anderson remains an important part of Phillies history and one of those players who made a significant contribution to the sport.
