Gonzalez began his professional baseball career in 1995 when he signed with the Texas Rangers as a free agent. He quickly rose through the ranks of the minors, and he made his major league debut in 1998. He played for the Rangers from 1998 to 2000 before being traded to the San Diego Padres. In his first full season with the Padres, Gonzalez hit .316 and helped lead the team to the National League pennant. During his time with the Padres, Gonzalez played a vital role in the franchise's success, helping them reach the postseason in three out of the four years he was on the team.

After spending the 2004 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Gonzalez signed with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2005. Unfortunately, his career was hampered by injuries, and he was only able to play in 17 games for the Brewers before announcing his retirement in 2006. In total, Gonzalez played in 756 games, accumulating a .255 batting average, 30 home runs, and 220 RBIs over his seven-year career in the majors. He continues to be remembered as a versatile player who made a significant impact on the teams he played for. Read even more about Fernando Gonzalez at Wikipedia
